2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Review: Prices, Specs, and Photos

The 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a subcompact crossover that offers a spacious interior but falls short in terms of overall performance and features. It competes with other affordable SUVs in its class such as the Hyundai Kona and Kia Seltos. While it may not stand out in any particular area, the Eclipse Cross is a decent option for those seeking a versatile and practical vehicle.

For the 2024 model year, Mitsubishi has made some updates to the Eclipse Cross. The warranty coverage now includes two years of limited maintenance across the lineup. Additionally, certain trims now come standard with features like a hands-free power tailgate, adaptive cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a rear-row USB port. Later in the year, Mitsubishi will introduce a special edition with off-road styling.

In terms of design, the Eclipse Cross takes inspiration from the larger Outlander model. It features a bold front end with chrome trim, LED headlights, and daytime running lights. The interior is a mix of black and silver plastic, which may not be the most luxurious but does offer ample space for passengers and cargo.

Under the hood, the Eclipse Cross is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo-4 engine that produces 152 horsepower. While all-wheel drive comes standard, the continuously variable automatic transmission can feel sluggish at times. Fuel efficiency is also lacking, with just 26 mpg combined in its most efficient configuration.

In terms of safety, the Eclipse Cross has received a five-star rating from the NHTSA but has some “Poor” scores in updated IIHS tests. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warnings, and pedestrian detection. Higher trims offer additional safety tech like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, a surround view camera system, and a head-up display.

Pricing for the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross starts at $27,790 for the base ES trim, including destination charges. The LE trim starts at $29,440 and offers more features like an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top SEL Touring trim, priced at $33,740, may not offer the best value compared to other options in the segment.

Overall, the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a decent SUV that offers a spacious interior and competitive pricing. While it may not excel in any particular area, it is a practical choice for those in the market for a versatile and affordable crossover.
