The Cupra VZ may be lacking in charm, but it certainly makes up for it in other areas. While some may not find it particularly evocative or emotional, it’s hard to deny its capabilities and appeal. The modern and striking styling may not evoke retro-nostalgia or classic beauty, but it does give the Cupra a unique and attractive look.

When it comes to more objective measures, the Cupra VZ is hard to beat. It offers a comfortable ride, a decent touring range, and a spacious boot, making it a practical choice for long journeys. While it may not be the most charming car in the lineup, it certainly excels in terms of functionality and performance.

On the other hand, the Alpine A290 surprised many by coming out on top as Autocar’s Best Fun EV for 2025. Despite facing stiff competition, the Alpine A290 proved to be a worthy winner with its combination of driver entertainment, retro-cool appeal, and daily usability.

In the end, different tastes apply when it comes to choosing the perfect car. While some may prefer the charm of the Mini or Alpine, others may appreciate the practicality and performance of the Cupra VZ. Each car has its own unique appeal, making the choice ultimately a matter of personal preference.

Overall, the Cupra VZ may not be the most charming car in the lineup, but it certainly delivers on performance and functionality. And while the Alpine A290 may have faced tough competition, it emerged victorious as the Best Fun EV for 2025, showcasing its ability to combine style, performance, and usability in one impressive package.
