Fang Cheng Bao, a sub-brand of BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), has recently announced the pre-sales of its latest off-road SUV, the Bao 8, in China. The launch of this highly anticipated vehicle is set to take place soon, with the first deliveries expected to be completed by November at the latest.
The Bao 8 comes with a price range of RMB 400,000 ($56,600) to RMB 500,000 in pre-sales, offering both six-seat and seven-seat options for customers to choose from. Interested buyers can secure their reservation by paying a refundable deposit of RMB 3,000, which comes with the benefit of priority production.
For those eager to get a closer look at the Bao 8, show cars of the model are already available at Fang Cheng Bao stores. The SUV is based on the DMO platform, with the O representing off-road and DM for dual mode.
Under the hood, the Bao 8 is powered by a 2.0 T engine that boasts close to 750 horsepower and 550 kW of combined power. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.8 seconds and offers a remarkable combined range of over 1,200 kilometers.
One of the standout features of the Bao 8 is its DiSus-P body control system, which provides up to 200 mm of suspension adjustment travel. This advanced system is part of BYD’s DiSus system, which also includes DiSus-C and DiSus-A branches.
In addition, the Bao 8 will be the first BYD model to incorporate Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 intelligent driving system. This cutting-edge technology aims to deliver a more human-like, safer, and efficient driving experience, allowing the SUV to drive intelligently from parking space to parking space.
Fang Cheng Bao and Huawei entered into a cooperation agreement on August 27 to jointly develop a smart driving solution tailored for hardcore SUVs. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in enhancing the driving experience and safety features of the Bao 8.
