CATL, a leading Chinese power battery giant, has recently unveiled a new line of batteries for heavy-duty commercial vehicles under its commercial vehicle battery brand, Tectrans. This launch comes after the successful introduction of similar products for the logistics and electric bus industries.

The Tectrans series of batteries for heavy-duty commercial vehicles includes a supercharging version, a long-life version, a long-range version, and a durable version designed specifically for construction machinery. This expansion of the Tectrans brand aims to cater to the growing demand for electrified solutions in the heavy commercial vehicle sector.

The supercharging-enabled batteries in the Tectrans range boast a peak supercharging capability of 4 C, allowing for a rapid charge of up to 70 percent in just 15 minutes. This feature is especially beneficial for heavy trucks operating in scenarios such as mine transportation and sludge mixing, where quick energy replenishment is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency.

Furthermore, the long-life version of the Tectrans battery offers a lifespan of up to 1.2 million kilometers, making it ideal for high-energy-consumption transportation scenarios. This version can withstand frequent charging and discharging, ensuring durability and reliability over a 15-year period.

The long-range battery option supports a capacity of up to 1,000 kWh, providing a range of up to 800 kilometers. With an industry-leading energy density of 220 Wh/kg, this battery is designed to meet the demands of heavy commercial vehicles operating over extended distances.

Additionally, CATL has introduced a Tectrans battery specifically tailored for construction machinery, offering enhanced safety and durability for mining trucks over long distances. This product is already in mass production and is being utilized in more than 20 models from eight construction machinery manufacturers.
