Changan Automobile (SHE: 000625) sub-brand Nevo has unveiled a sneak peek of its upcoming Q05, a compact electric SUV set to rival the likes of the BYD Yuan Up in the market. The Q05 is Nevo’s first global all-electric compact SUV, as confirmed by the release of four images on the brand’s social media platforms.
The images provide a glimpse of the Q05’s design, showcasing features such as a roof-mounted LiDAR and semi-hidden door handles. While specific details are scarce, the SUV appears to embody a modern and sleek aesthetic that aligns with the current trends in the electric vehicle market.
It’s worth noting that the Nevo Q05, currently available as a plug-in hybrid, was initially introduced on December 12, 2023. The existing hybrid versions of the Q05 come in three variants, with a starting price of RMB 96,900 ($13,500). In comparison, the BYD Yuan Up, a key competitor in the segment, boasts slightly smaller dimensions in terms of length, width, and height.
Nevo, established as a new brand by Changan in August 2023, has been expanding its product lineup to cover various segments in the automotive market. The brand’s current offerings include the A05, A07, Q05, Q07, E07, K50, and Lumin models, catering to different preferences in the sedan, SUV, and pickup truck categories.
In addition to the Q05, Nevo is gearing up to launch a new sedan model called the C390 in the latter half of the year. This sedan will mark Changan’s first foray into the SDA (Software-Defined Car) architecture, boasting a generous wheelbase of nearly 3 meters. Built on an 800-volt high-voltage electrical platform, the C390 promises enhanced energy efficiency and faster charging capabilities.
The C390 has already garnered attention for its striking exterior design, setting it apart as a standout model within Changan’s portfolio. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, Nevo continues to make strides in the electric vehicle market, offering consumers a diverse range of options that combine performance, style, and eco-friendliness.
