Infomedia, an Australian automotive technology firm, has recently announced its agreement to acquire a 50% stake in the artificial intelligence (AI) startup, Intellegam. The deal, valued at approximately A$10 million ($6.36 million), will be completed over a two-year period, with a portion of the investment being directed towards Intellegam’s working capital.

Intellegam, a European AI startup focusing on the retail automotive sector, has developed proprietary generative AI technology that is currently being utilized by two Chinese OEM brands in Europe. This technology enhances repair data interpretation and customer experience by leveraging Intellegam’s AI capabilities.

The acquisition agreement also includes an option for Infomedia to acquire the remaining 50% of Intellegam over the next five years, subject to specific financial and strategic milestones. Future valuations of Intellegam will be tied to revenue and profitability, with caps to ensure incentives for Intellegam’s shareholders and financial certainty for Infomedia.

By combining its automotive expertise with Intellegam’s AI technology, Infomedia aims to redefine solutions for OEMs, dealerships, and vehicle owners. This integration, along with Infomedia’s existing data assets, will enable the company to offer additional AI features and functionalities, facilitating cross- and upselling to its customer base.

Infomedia’s CEO, Jens Monsees, expressed excitement about the acquisition, emphasizing the company’s commitment to delivering intelligent, data-driven solutions for the automotive ecosystem. He highlighted the potential of combining Intellegam’s AI technology with Infomedia’s automotive software and data solutions to enhance the product portfolio and provide new solutions to customers.

On the other hand, Intellegam’s CEO, Tobias Hetfleisch, emphasized the importance of leveraging AI technology to address the evolving challenges in the automotive industry. He highlighted the need for smarter solutions that streamline operations, improve decision-making, and support businesses through industry changes.
