Leapmotor has recently announced the launch of the updated C16 SUV, with pre-sales starting earlier this month. The new model offers a starting price of RMB 169,800 ($23,640) and comes with several enhancements compared to its predecessor.

The 2026 C16, set to be officially launched on June 18, will feature over 70 major upgrades, including extended range and increased interior space. The SUV was initially introduced in 2024 as a six-seat model, offering both EREV and BEV options. In January this year, Leapmotor added two new BEV variants to the lineup, expanding the choices for consumers.

One of the significant changes with the updated C16 is the introduction of five-seat options in addition to the existing six-seat versions. This move aims to cater to a broader range of customer needs and preferences, making the SUV more versatile and appealing to a wider audience.

The pre-sales for the 2026 C16 commenced on June 6, offering a total of six variants with three EREV and three BEV options. The EREV variants are priced at RMB 169,800, RMB 179,800, and RMB 179,800, while the BEV variants come with pre-sale prices of RMB 179,800, RMB 189,800, and RMB 189,800.

The new C16 is built on an 800-volt high-voltage architecture, with BEV models offering an impressive range of 630 kilometers and EREV versions featuring a battery range of 280 kilometers. While specific details about the 2026 C16 are currently limited, the previous model had dimensions of 4,915 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,770 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm.

Leapmotor has been experiencing significant growth in its sales figures, with a notable increase in deliveries in recent months. In May alone, the company delivered 45,067 vehicles, marking a year-on-year rise of 148.10 percent and a month-on-month increase of 9.82 percent. From January to May, Leapmotor delivered a total of 173,658 vehicles, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 160.83 percent.

The C16 has been a popular choice among consumers, with 4,340 units delivered in May alone, accounting for 9.6 percent of Leapmotor’s total monthly deliveries. The success of the C16 and the positive sales figures indicate a promising future for Leapmotor in the competitive NEV market.

In conclusion, the updated C16 from Leapmotor promises to offer an enhanced driving experience with improved features and options to suit a wider range of consumer preferences. With its competitive pricing and impressive specifications, the SUV is set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.
