Li Auto’s Li i8 Completes Rigorous Testing Across China

Li Auto, a major player in China’s extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) market, announced that its first all-electric SUV, the Li i8, has successfully completed over 8 million kilometers of road tests. This milestone is equivalent to circling the globe more than 200 times, showcasing the durability and performance of the Li i8.

The testing process involved two winters and two summers of endurance and performance validation in 300 cities across China. Engineers at Li Auto subjected the Li i8 to more than 4,000 scenarios in various environments, including deserts, mountains, swamps, snow, and ice. Additionally, over 1,200 NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) metrics were examined to ensure the SUV’s quality and reliability.

Starting March 10, test vehicles of the Li i8 wrapped in light camouflage will undergo nationwide testing, further validating the vehicle’s capabilities in different conditions. Li Auto shared new images and a video of the Li i8 undergoing road tests, giving a glimpse of the model in action.

The Li i8 is part of Li Auto’s lineup of extended-range electric vehicles, which includes the Li L6, Li L7, Li L8, and Li L9 SUVs. The company recently introduced its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Li Mega MPV, which has already achieved 12,286 deliveries by the end of February.

Although Li Auto had initially planned to launch more BEV models in the second half of 2024, the company decided to delay the release until the first half of 2025. The Li i8 was officially named on February 25 and is set to be launched in July, marking a significant milestone for Li Auto’s electric vehicle lineup.

Investors and enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting Li Auto’s unaudited financial results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2024, which are expected to be released soon. The focus of the earnings call will likely include plans for the Li i8 and other upcoming BEV models.

Before the Li i8 hits the market, Li Auto plans to upgrade its existing models in May, incorporating smart-driving hardware upgrades to enhance the overall driving experience. With a strong commitment to innovation and quality, Li Auto continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology in China and beyond.
