The Porsche Cayenne EV: A High-Powered Ride at Goodwood Festival of Speed
As I sit in the driver’s seat of the new Porsche Cayenne EV, I can’t help but admire its impressive size and height. It may not be as large as a Range Rover, but it’s certainly on its way there. This electric vehicle is the biggest Porsche in their lineup, and I’m about to experience its power at the Goodwood Festival of Speed’s hillclimb event.
From my elevated position, I can see the track ahead, lined with trees and leading to the first challenging corner. Despite its three-second 0-60mph acceleration time, the Cayenne EV doesn’t feel like it’s hugging the road. But with its fat tires and advanced active dampers, I have no doubt that it will handle the corners with ease.
One of the reasons for the Cayenne’s height is the 100kWh-plus traction battery housed underneath. With over 1000 horsepower from its dual motors, this EV is not only powerful on the track but also capable off-road, requiring sufficient ground clearance.
My driver, Gabriela Jilková, a talented GT racer from the Czech Republic, is behind the wheel. Known as ‘Quick Gabi’, she exudes calm concentration as we approach the starting line, ready to unleash the Cayenne EV’s full potential.
As we line up for our run, the sound of the synthesised V8 engine fills the cabin, adding to the anticipation. With a nod from the Goodwood starter, we launch off the line with explosive acceleration. The G-forces push me back into the seat, and the silence of the electric powertrain contrasts with the intense speed.
Overall, the Porsche Cayenne EV delivers a thrilling performance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, combining power, technology, and agility in a package that showcases the future of electric vehicles.
