RML Group Unveils Production Version of GT Hypercar
British engineering firm RML Group has officially unveiled the first production version of the GT Hypercar, a stunningly redesigned Porsche 911 Turbo S inspired by Le Mans 24 Hours racers. The debut took place at Salon Privé.
Previously known under the codename RML P39, the GT Hypercar draws inspiration from the victorious Porsche GT1 at Le Mans in 1998 and contemporary Le Mans Hypercars. According to RML, the GT Hypercar has shown promising performance in simulations, with the capability of lapping the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the low 6 minutes and 30 seconds range.
Compared to the standard 911 Turbo S, the GT Hypercar boasts a new carbon fibre body, an extended wheelbase, and wider front and rear tracks. The road-legal vehicle also features bespoke active aerodynamics, a prominent front splitter, and an adjustable rear spoiler.
Production of the GT Hypercar will be limited to just 39 units, with the model showcased at Salon Privé being one of the exclusive 10 RML 40th Anniversary Special Editions. These special editions will start at a price of £495,000 each, excluding VAT and the donor car.
The 40th Anniversary Special Edition models come with unique interior details, optional Performance Pack and Track Pack upgrades, which include selectable ride height adjustment and a rear roll cage while removing the rear seats. In collaboration with Litchfield Motors, the power output of the GT Hypercar has been increased from 900bhp to 907bhp, delivering over 738lb ft of torque.
At Salon Privé, the GT Hypercar was showcased with distinctive styling elements such as a purple roof, carbon tinted bonnet, gold wheels, and hand-painted gold badging. These special editions ride on forged alloy wheels, measuring 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear.
Named after being the 39th project car by RML Group since its establishment in 1984, the GT Hypercar signifies a significant milestone for the company. While many of RML’s previous projects were made for clients under confidentiality agreements, the GT Hypercar marks one of the first vehicles to bear the RML Group name.
