Tesla Diner in Shanghai may open in early 2026, report says

Tesla is set to open its first Tesla Diner in Shanghai, with reports suggesting that the facility may be operational around Chinese New Year in 2026. The prices at the Shanghai location are expected to be around 70 percent of what they are in the United States, making it an attractive option for customers in the region.

Located next to Tesla’s Gigafactory in Pudong, Shanghai, the 3,000-square-meter plot of land has been reserved for the diner. This strategic location will allow Tesla to cater to both employees of the Gigafactory and the general public who are looking to experience the unique offerings of the Tesla Diner.

The Chinese New Year in 2026 falls on February 17, marking the start of the lunar year. This festive period could be the perfect time for Tesla to launch its diner in Shanghai and attract a wide audience looking for a unique dining experience.

Tesla’s first Tesla Diner in the US, located in Hollywood, has already garnered attention for its innovative concept. Equipped with 80 V4 Superchargers, two 66-foot LED megascreens, and a 24/7 restaurant with seating for over 250 people, the diner offers a blend of dining, entertainment, and charging facilities for customers.

While the Tesla Diner is open to owners of all brands, Tesla owners will have exclusive features available to them. For instance, they can place orders directly from their cars and synchronize their vehicle’s central screen with the restaurant’s movie screen, enhancing their overall dining experience.

CEO Elon Musk has hinted at the possibility of opening similar facilities in major cities around the world, as well as at Supercharger sites on long-distance routes. This expansion could further strengthen Tesla’s brand influence and potentially boost vehicle sales in the long run.

Although the diner may not contribute significantly to Tesla’s revenue, it will play a crucial role in expanding the company’s presence and creating a unique customer experience. In China, local electric vehicle makers like Nio and Li Auto have already introduced similar services, signaling a growing trend in the industry.

With the rise of electrification and innovation in the automotive sector, the era of large-space SUVs powered by electric vehicles is on the horizon. As Tesla gears up to open its Tesla Diner in Shanghai, customers can look forward to a blend of good food, entertainment, and a futuristic dining experience unlike any other.
