Tesla is currently offering a limited-time discount on two variants of the Model Y in China, hinting at a possible upcoming refresh for the popular crossover. The discount, available for the rear-wheel drive and long-range all-wheel drive versions, allows Chinese customers to receive a RMB 10,000 ($1,380) reduction if they order between November 25 and December 31.

The Model Y lineup in China consists of an entry-level rear-wheel-drive version, a long-range all-wheel-drive version, and an all-wheel-drive performance option, with starting prices of RMB 249,900, RMB 290,900, and RMB 354,900 respectively. The discount does not apply to the highest-priced all-wheel drive Performance edition.

Customers can choose from customized vehicles, stock vehicles that have been produced, and show cars to avail of the discount, while vehicles used for test drives and official used vehicles are excluded. It is important for customers to take delivery of their vehicle by December 31 to benefit from the discount.

Interestingly, Tesla is not extending the discount offer to its Model 3 sedan, which is available in China in rear-wheel drive, long-range all-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive performance options. The Model 3 lineup starts at RMB 231,900, RMB 271,900, and RMB 335,900 respectively.

In addition to the limited-time discount, Tesla has also extended its 5-year, 0 percent interest financing incentive for all variants of the Model 3 and Model Y in China until December 31. This financing program was initially introduced on April 3 and has been extended each month since then.

The Model Y has been a top-selling EV model for Tesla in China, with 373,852 units sold in the country from January to October, accounting for 74.67 percent of the company’s total deliveries in the region during that period. Speculations about an upcoming facelift for the Model Y have been circulating, with reports suggesting that Tesla may introduce two updated versions in 2025, including a 5-seat version and a 7-seat version.

While Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously denied rumors of a Model Y refresh this year, reports of the company preparing for the production of an updated Model Y have surfaced. With the latest discount offer and the extension of financing incentives, it seems that Tesla is gearing up for some exciting changes to its Model Y lineup in the near future.
