Tesla teases new product release on Friday

Tesla is set to unveil a new product in Europe and the Middle East on Friday, August 29th, and all signs point to it being the highly anticipated Model Y Performance. The teaser post shared by Tesla on social media features a close-up image of what appears to be a spoiler on a vehicle, hence the “spoiler alert” reference.

Following the Model Y refresh earlier this year, Tesla discontinued the Model Y Performance variant, leading many to believe that the upcoming product release will introduce the top performance version under the new design. In the past, Tesla has typically taken a few months to launch the performance version of its updated models, as was the case with the Model 3 refresh in 2024.

Despite the excitement surrounding the potential release of the Model Y Performance, some are questioning the decision to announce it from the Europe and Middle East account. It is unusual for Tesla to launch a new model in these regions first, leading to speculation that production may have begun at Gigafactory Berlin ahead of other locations.

While the Model Y Performance may not be the most popular option among Tesla’s lineup, with estimates suggesting it represents less than 10% of Model Y deliveries, it still holds significance for enthusiasts looking for a more exhilarating driving experience. The Model 3 Performance, on the other hand, is considered a more appealing choice within the Model 3 range due to its performance capabilities.

Overall, the upcoming product release is generating excitement among Tesla fans, and many are eagerly awaiting the official announcement on Friday. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated reveal.
