Built on Volvo’s scalable modular architecture platform, specifically designed for long-range plug-in hybrids, the XC70 is now available for pre-order in China, with plans for a future release in Europe.
Catering to the growing demand for plug-in hybrids with extended ranges, especially in China, the XC70 comes equipped with fast charging capabilities. It allows for a charge of up to 80% in just 23 minutes and features bi-directional charging to power external electric devices. The SUV also incorporates a closed grille and active grille shutter, enhancing aerodynamics, energy efficiency, and extending range. Additionally, the vehicle sports vertical C-shaped taillights integrated into the rear glass for a sleek and modern look.

Over-the-air updates keep the software current, enhancing convenience for drivers.
In terms of safety features, the XC70 is equipped with Safe Space Technology, advanced sensing technology, and driver support systems like automatic lane change assist, Park Pilot Assist, and active navigation support. A door opening alert helps prevent accidents with cyclists in urban areas, further enhancing safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
Volvo Cars’ chief executive and president, HÃ¥kan Samuelsson, expressed enthusiasm for the new XC70, stating that it serves as a bridge to fully electric cars for customers who are not yet ready to make the switch. The XC70 is a pivotal addition to Volvo’s electrified product portfolio and will strengthen the brand’s presence in the global automotive market.
In related financial news, Volvo Cars reported a loss in the second quarter of 2025, reflecting the challenges faced by the automotive industry as a whole.
