10 Tesla Cybertrucks were ‘annonymously donated’ to Las Vegas Police

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) is set to add 10 Tesla Cybertrucks to its fleet for patrol and SWAT operations. The electric trucks were generously donated by an anonymous supporter, sparking speculation that Tesla or Elon Musk might be behind the donation.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill announced the addition of the Cybertrucks during the 2025 State of the Department address, emphasizing the department’s commitment to innovation and safety. The Cybertrucks will be customized for LVMPD use and will complement the department’s fleet of semi-autonomous drones equipped with shot-spotting technology.

The LVMPD released images of the Cybertrucks to showcase the new additions to their fleet. This move follows in the footsteps of the Irvine Police, who also unveiled a Cybertruck police vehicle. However, LVMPD will likely have the largest fleet of Cybertrucks in law enforcement.

While it is unclear if Tesla is directly involved in the donation, the use of Cybertrucks by a police force could potentially serve as a promotional opportunity for the vehicle. Despite the potential benefits, some concerns remain regarding the overall challenges facing Tesla and the Cybertruck model.

In conclusion, the addition of Tesla Cybertrucks to the LVMPD fleet represents a unique collaboration between law enforcement and cutting-edge technology. The donation of these vehicles showcases a potential partnership between private donors and public agencies to enhance safety and efficiency in policing operations.
