Audi has officially announced the launch timing and pricing details for the highly anticipated 2025 A5 model in the United States. The redesigned A5 is set to debut in the second quarter of the year with a starting price of $48,995, which includes the mandatory $1,295 destination fee. While the full pricing details will be disclosed closer to the launch date, this base price represents a slight increase compared to its predecessor, the 2024 Audi A5.
Unlike its predecessor, the 2025 Audi A5 will serve as a replacement for both the previous A5 and the A4 models, marking a significant reshuffling of the automaker’s lineup. The new A5 will be available exclusively in a four-door liftback body style in the U.S., replacing the A4 sedan and the outgoing A5 Sportback. This change also means the discontinuation of the A5 coupe and convertible variants, with the A5 Avant wagon not being offered in the American market.
The 2025 A5 boasts a larger footprint than the outgoing A4, with increased dimensions in length, width, and height, as well as a longer wheelbase. Despite its sedan-like appearance, the A5 features a hatchback design with a rear glass and deck lid that open as one piece, offering ample cargo space of 22.6 cubic feet, expandable to 36.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
Under the hood, the base A5 model is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. For those seeking a more exhilarating driving experience, the sportier S5 variant will be available, featuring a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering 362 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. Both models come standard with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
The 2025 A5 is built on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), enabling a more advanced electrical architecture that supports a plethora of software-based features. The interior is equipped with a cutting-edge dashboard display comprising an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 10.9-inch touchscreen for the front passenger. Additionally, optional features include a head-up display and a premium 20-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.
Many of the innovative features found in the 2025 A5 are also present in the Audi Q5 crossover, which shares the same PPC architecture. Originally, Audi had planned to differentiate odd-numbered models with combustion engines from even-numbered EVs, but recently announced a reversal of this naming scheme.
Overall, the 2025 Audi A5 represents a significant leap forward in terms of design, performance, and technology, offering customers a compelling blend of luxury and innovation in a sleek and versatile package.
