BMW iX3 SUV Enters Final Testing Phase
BMW is gearing up to test its latest creation, the iX3 SUV, which marks the debut of the Neue Klasse design language. The final-stage prototypes have recently rolled off the production lines in Germany, signaling a significant step in the development process.
The upcoming iX3 will directly rival the Audi Q4 E-tron and is inspired by the radical Vision Neue Klasse X concept. This concept introduced a bold new design language that breaks away from BMW’s current lineup while paying homage to some of its iconic past models.
Set to be launched by the end of next year, the iX3 will be joined by the electric 3 Series saloon in 2026, both based on the Vision Neue Klasse concept.
Recently released images from BMW showcase the near-production version of the iX3, retaining similar proportions and design cues from the concept. Despite being heavily camouflaged, sources reveal that the front end will closely resemble the concept, featuring new-look kidney grilles reminiscent of the original Neue Klasse models from the 1960s.
While the production model will not include the sleek side cameras seen in the concept, it will adopt a more conventional LED signature compared to the sharp two-slash design of the Neue Klasse X.
BMW’s production boss Milan Nedeljković expressed the significance of producing the first test vehicles in Debrecen, marking a crucial milestone for the new plant. As the vehicles near series maturity, all logistics and production processes are being rigorously tested to ensure a seamless start of series production.
Although specific details on the iX3’s specifications are yet to be confirmed, it is revealed that the Neue Klasse platform will be equipped with 800V electrical hardware. This feature will enable the iX3 to compete with the fastest-charging electric vehicles currently available in the market.
