Chery officially launched the 2025 Chery Tiggo 9 and Tiggo 9 C-DM on September 25th. The new Tiggo 9 comes in five trims with a price range of 152,900 – 203,900 yuan (21,750 – 29,000 USD), while the Tiggo 9 C-DM plug-in hybrid variant is offered in two trims with a price range of 165,900 – 175,900 yuan (23,600 – 25,000 USD). Both models are available in 5- and 7-seater layouts.
In August 2024, the Tiggo 9 series sold 4,914 units, accounting for 9.20% of Chery’s total sales and ranking 56th in SUV sales in China. The cumulative sales for the first eight months of 2024 were 33,183 units, ranking 58th in SUV sales.
The 2025 Chery Tiggo 9 features a larger straight waterfall-style grille in the front, maintaining the body shape of the 2024 model. Design elements like hidden door handles, floating roof, roof racks, and electric tailgate are present, with denser rims and available in five exterior colors. The dimensions remain the same as the previous model, with a wheelbase of 2820 mm and positioned as a medium-sized SUV.
Powering the Tiggo 9 is Chery’s Kunpeng 2.0TGDI direct injection turbocharged engine, delivering 192 kW (257 hp) and 400 Nm of torque, paired with a 7DCT or 8AT. It offers a fuel tank capacity of 65 L and a fuel consumption range of 7.5 L – 8.5 L per 100 km. Some trims feature continuous damping and a real-time four-wheel drive system with seven driving modes.
The interior of the Tiggo 9 retains the previous model’s design, with a large area of soft materials. The cockpit boasts a 24.6-inch dual-screen consisting of the instrument panel and central control screen, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. Other features include 256-color ambient lighting, rear center armrest, adjustable rear seat backrests, and level 2 advanced driving assistance capabilities.
The Tiggo 9 C-DM shares the same appearance and interior as the Tiggo 9, with dimensions of 4820/1930/1712 mm, a wheelbase of 2820 mm, and a curb weight of 1935 kg. It offers two new green exterior body colors and a plug-in hybrid system comprising a Chery fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI hybrid engine and a front electric motor, mated to a 3DHT. The 19.43 kWh ternary lithium battery pack provides a pure electric range of 106 km (WLTC 82 km) and a comprehensive range of 1400+ km under full tank and charge.
