The 2025 Kia K5, formerly known as the Kia Optima, is a midsize sedan that competes with popular models like the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Hyundai Sonata. While historically known for offering good value, the 2025 K5 has stepped up its game with more standard safety and convenience features. However, it still falls behind in terms of safety ratings, earning a TCC Rating of 6.3 out of 10.

One of the most significant updates for the 2025 K5 is the addition of a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The exterior also sees some refreshing updates, with a new daytime running light signature and stylish design elements. The top-of-the-line GT model boasts an impressive 2.5-liter turbo-4 engine that delivers 290 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque.

For those looking for all-wheel drive, the K5 GT-Line offers this option, while the LXS and EX models come with a new 2.5-liter inline-4 engine that produces 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. Inside, the K5 features a new large touchscreen, available 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster, and updated climate control system with haptic touch controls.

Despite its spacious interior and comfortable seating, the 2025 K5’s crash-test scores reveal that it may be a bit outdated compared to its competitors. However, all models come equipped with decent crash-avoidance and driver-assistance technologies. The starting price for the 2025 Kia K5 is $28,365, which includes a destination charge.

Production of the 2025 Kia K5 has shifted from West Point, Georgia, to South Korea. Overall, the 2025 Kia K5 offers a good value proposition with its updated features and stylish design, making it a worthy contender in the competitive midsize sedan segment.
