2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS Review: Prices, Specs, and Photos

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS is a top performer in the luxury electric vehicle market, offering a combination of brisk acceleration and a smooth, upscale ride. With a performance rating of 7 out of 10, the EQS delivers on both power and comfort.

The base model, the EQS 450+, is rear-wheel drive, but higher-end models come equipped with an additional front-mounted motor for better acceleration and all-wheel drive capabilities, labeled as 4Matic models by Mercedes. Despite their hefty weight of nearly 6,000 pounds, these vehicles are surprisingly quick off the line.

The EQS 450+ boasts 355 horsepower and 419 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to reach 60 mph in just under six seconds. Stepping up to the EQS 450 4Matic increases the power output to 590 hp and shaves half a second off the acceleration time. The EQS 580 packs even more punch with 536 hp and 633 lb-ft of torque, achieving a 0-60 mph time of four seconds. For those craving even more power, the AMG version delivers a staggering 649 hp and 751 lb-ft of torque, reaching 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds.

Despite their impressive performance, the EQS models excel in providing a serene driving experience. Minimal road and wind noise penetrate the cabin, with only a subtle hint of electric motor sound. The air suspension and adaptive dampers ensure a ride quality on par with Mercedes’ flagship S-Class.

The EQS features standard rear-wheel steering, enhancing agility at lower speeds and stability during high-speed maneuvers. While the AMG variant offers a slightly firmer and more controlled ride, it may feel harsh on rough roads. However, the lack of Mercedes’ E-Active Body Control system means that the EQS does not predict bumps ahead.

One notable omission is the absence of a one-pedal braking mode, a feature commonly found in electric vehicles. The latest EQS models have yet to be tested for brake regeneration performance, with early models exhibiting strong brakes with a unique pedal feel.

In conclusion, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS impresses with its blend of power, luxury, and comfort. Whether cruising on the highway or navigating city streets, the EQS delivers a refined driving experience that sets it apart in the electric vehicle market.
