The 2025 Mini Cooper is a unique vehicle that stands out in the small front-wheel-drive hatchback and convertible market. Known for its retro styling and agile performance, the Mini Cooper commands prices above its weight class. While it doesn’t have many direct competitors, potential buyers may also consider the Fiat 500e, Kia Soul, and BMW X1.

But is the 2025 Mini Cooper a good car? Despite its fun driving experience, the Mini Cooper falls short in practicality and comes with a higher price tag than expected. With a TCC Rating of 6.2 out of 10, the Mini Cooper may not be the most practical choice for all buyers.

For the 2025 model year, the Mini Cooper undergoes a major revision for its fourth generation. This includes new styling, upgraded engines, the latest technology, and slightly larger dimensions. Available in base, S, and John Cooper Works models, as well as 2-Door, 4-Door, and convertible body styles, the Mini Cooper offers a variety of options for consumers.

The exterior of the Mini Cooper maintains its iconic retro look, with round headlights, contrasting roof options, and distinctive styling elements. The interior also features retro-inspired design cues, including a round center screen and toggle controls for some functions. The touchscreen display is now 9.4 inches and houses many of the vehicle’s controls.

In terms of performance, the 2025 Mini Cooper offers a new base engine option, a 2.0-liter turbo-4 that delivers more power than the previous model. With spry acceleration and nimble handling, the Mini Cooper provides an enjoyable driving experience. Fuel economy is also impressive, with combined ratings over 30 mpg for most models.

When it comes to safety features, the Mini Cooper includes a decent set of standard options such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and parking sensors. Additional safety features like blind-spot monitors and lane-departure warnings are available as optional upgrades.

As for pricing, the 2025 Mini Cooper now starts at over $30,000 with the more powerful base engine. Higher trim levels and optional features can push the price up even further, with the top Iconic trim of the JCW convertible nearing $50,000.

Overall, the 2025 Mini Cooper is a stylish and fun-to-drive vehicle that offers a unique driving experience. While it may not be the most practical choice for all consumers, those looking for a small hatchback or convertible with retro charm and agile handling will find the Mini Cooper to be a compelling option.
