2025 Nissan Ariya Nismo review: Quick drive

Nissan has introduced the Ariya Nismo, a performance-oriented version of their popular electric SUV. While some traditional enthusiasts may be skeptical about seeing the Nismo badge on an electric vehicle, it signifies a new era for the motorsport-inspired brand.

The Ariya Nismo is not meant for the track but offers exterior and interior upgrades to set it apart from the rest of the range. It features a go-faster design with a red-and-black color palette, Nismo badges, and red stitching. The sports seats and door panels are made of a suede-like material, adding a touch of luxury to the cabin.

Under the hood, the Ariya Nismo utilizes the CMF-EV platform with tweaks to the suspension, steering, brakes, and powertrain. It boasts a dual-motor setup with a peak power of 320kW and 600Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.0 seconds.

In terms of driving dynamics, the Ariya Nismo offers a commendably tied-down experience despite its weight and size. The chassis enhancements provide stability at high speeds, with a more rear-biased AWD system for improved performance. The Nismo driving mode enhances responsiveness, although some may find the synthetic soundtrack unnecessary.

The Ariya Nismo comes well-equipped with features such as 20-inch Enkei wheels, Nismo-branded sports seats, dual-zone climate control, and a power-sliding center console. Safety features include blind-spot monitoring, emergency braking with pedestrian recognition, and traffic sign recognition.

While the Ariya Nismo delivers impressive performance and luxury, it may be out of reach for many buyers due to its high price tag. Nissan could potentially attract a larger audience by incorporating Nismo design elements without the hefty price premium. Overall, the Ariya Nismo offers a blend of performance and practicality, making it a compelling option for those seeking a sporty electric SUV.
