2025 Omoda 9 review | CarExpert

The Omoda 9, the first model from the Omoda brand to be offered in Australia, is a mid-to-large five-seat ‘premium’ SUV that boasts a plug-in hybrid powertrain producing a substantial 395kW of power. Priced at $61,990 before on-road costs, the Omoda 9 is aimed at the ‘EV curious’ market and has been on sale overseas under different Chery brands since 2022.

Featuring the advanced ‘Super Hybrid System’ comprising a petrol engine, three electric motors, and a dedicated hybrid transmission, the Omoda 9 comes equipped with leather seat trim, acoustic glass, auto parking, and a large curved digital display. The chassis is enhanced with adaptive dampers to provide a comfortable ride.

The interior of the Omoda 9 offers a luxurious feel with leather seat and door trim, silver switches, and woodgrain-like appliqués. The cabin features a range of high-tech features including a head-up display, digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, and a premium Sony sound system.

Under the bonnet, the Omoda 9 is powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder petrol engine, three electric motors, and all-wheel drive. The powertrain delivers impressive performance figures, with a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds. The vehicle is capable of running on electric power alone for up to 145km.
