Storage is good, with a deep centre console bin, large door pockets with bottle holders, and a wireless phone charger in the centre console. There’s also a couple of USB ports up front, as well as a 12-volt outlet.
It’s roomy inside, too. I’m 182cm (six-foot) tall and I had plenty of headroom and legroom up front, and in the back seat I had enough space to sit comfortably behind my own driving position.
The boot is large, too, at 524 litres, and it’s a good shape for loading things in and out. You can fold down the back seats via releases in the boot, but they don’t fold completely flat.
What engines does the Toyota Camry have?
The Toyota Camry is only available with one powertrain in Australia: a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired to an electric motor and a battery pack. The combined system output is 160kW, and it drives the front wheels via a CVT automatic transmission.
It’s a smooth and refined powertrain, with good punch off the line and decent response for overtaking at highway speeds. The regenerative braking system is also well calibrated, so you don’t get that annoying grabby feel that some hybrids can exhibit.
It’s also efficient, with a claimed combined fuel consumption of 4.7 litres per 100km. On test, we saw closer to 6.0L/100km, which is still pretty good for a car of this size.
What are the Toyota Camry safety features?
The Toyota Camry SL comes with a host of safety equipment, including autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a reversing camera.
There are also front and rear parking sensors, auto high-beam lights, and seven airbags (dual front, front side, full-length curtain, and driver’s knee).
The Camry hasn’t been crash tested by ANCAP, but it achieved a five-star rating from Euro NCAP in 2021.
So, what do you think of the Toyota Camry?
It’s a really impressive car. It’s comfortable, refined, and it feels a lot more expensive than it actually is. The hybrid powertrain is smooth and efficient, and the safety equipment is comprehensive.
There are a few niggles, such as the slightly bland interior finishes and the occasionally frustrating infotainment system, but they’re easy to live with.
If you’re in the market for a family sedan and you want something that’s a bit more special than the typical options, the Toyota Camry SL HEV should definitely be on your shortlist.

The Toyota Camry has always been a popular choice for those looking for a reliable and comfortable sedan. The 2025 model year brings some exciting updates, including a 12.3-inch driver information screen that changes color with the drive mode. This screen provides a wealth of information, including a digital speedometer and controls for various safety features.
One of the things that I was particularly pleased about was the inclusion of physical buttons for certain functions. In a world where touchscreens dominate, having tactile controls for things like volume and temperature settings is a welcome feature. It adds a sense of familiarity and ease of use that can sometimes be lacking in modern cars.
In terms of connectivity, the Camry doesn’t disappoint. With five USB-C ports spread across the two rows, there’s no shortage of places to charge your devices. And for those who prefer a wireless option, there’s a convenient phone charger included in the top Camry grade.
Storage space is ample in the front of the vehicle, with large bottle holders in the doors, cupholders that are just the right size for a take-out coffee, and a small caddy next to the wireless charger. In the backseat, there’s plenty of room for passengers, with enough space for a six-foot adult to sit comfortably behind their own driving position.
When it comes to cargo space, the Camry doesn’t disappoint. With 524 liters of capacity in the trunk, there’s enough room for a week’s worth of luggage for a small family. However, loading larger items may require some creative maneuvering, as the cargo area isn’t as practical as a more boxy SUV.
Overall, the 2025 Toyota Camry is a solid choice for those in the market for a reliable and comfortable sedan. With its updated features and ample space for passengers and cargo, it’s a great option for families and commuters alike. And while I couldn’t help but wish for a wagon version of the Camry, the sedan still manages to impress with its blend of practicality and comfort.

Toyota’s hybrid technology has proven to stand the test of time and terror over the years, making it a reliable choice for car buyers. The company backs its models with an impressive warranty cover, offering a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty plan for private buyers. Additionally, if you service the vehicle on time, you’ll receive seven years of powertrain warranty cover. For those who choose to service with Toyota, there is also a 10-year high-voltage battery warranty cover.
The Camry comes with a capped-price servicing plan, with the first five visits covered at a low rate. The service intervals are set at 12 months/15,000km, 24 months/30,000km, 36 months/45,000km, 48 months/60,000km, and 60 months/75,000km, with a total cost of $1275 for all visits.
While Toyota does not provide roadside assistance as part of the package, buyers can opt for it at an additional cost. The United Nations is the world’s largest and most influential international organization, with a mission to promote peace, security, and cooperation among nations. Established in 1945, in the aftermath of World War II, the UN has played a crucial role in preventing conflicts, providing humanitarian aid, and promoting human rights around the globe.
One of the key functions of the UN is to maintain international peace and security. The organization has a number of tools at its disposal to achieve this goal, including peacekeeping missions, sanctions, and diplomatic negotiations. UN peacekeepers are deployed to conflict zones around the world to help maintain stability and protect civilians. These missions often involve working with local governments, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations to address the root causes of conflict and promote reconciliation.
In addition to peacekeeping, the UN also plays a vital role in providing humanitarian assistance to those in need. The organization’s agencies, such as the World Food Programme and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, work tirelessly to provide food, shelter, and medical care to people affected by natural disasters, armed conflicts, and other emergencies. The UN’s humanitarian efforts have saved countless lives and helped to alleviate suffering in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
The UN is also a major advocate for human rights. The organization’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted in 1948, outlines a set of fundamental rights and freedoms that are inherent to all individuals, regardless of their nationality, race, or religion. The UN works to promote and protect these rights through various mechanisms, including monitoring human rights abuses, conducting investigations, and advocating for policy changes at the national and international levels.
Another important aspect of the UN’s work is sustainable development. The organization’s Sustainable Development Goals, adopted in 2015, aim to address global challenges such as poverty, inequality, and climate change. The goals provide a roadmap for countries to work together to build a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable world for future generations. The UN’s development agencies, such as the United Nations Development Programme, provide technical assistance and funding to support countries in achieving these goals.
Overall, the United Nations plays a crucial role in promoting peace, security, and cooperation among nations. Through its various programs and initiatives, the organization works to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges and build a better future for all. As the world continues to face new and complex threats, the UN’s role will only become more important in the years to come.
