The Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology is a game-changer in the world of electric vehicles. This new addition to the Mercedes-Benz lineup represents the first of a new generation of electric vehicles from the iconic brand. The GLC debuts an all-new electric vehicle architecture called MB.EA, which will also be used for electric versions of the next-generation C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class sedans, as well as electric GLE and GLS SUVs.

The MB.EA platform features powerful and efficient e-motors developed in-house by Mercedes-Benz, an 800V electrical architecture for hyper-fast charging, and new battery chemistries for lower cost and longer range. The vehicle is software-defined, with Mercedes-Benz’s new MB.OS operating system overseeing all vehicle functions and offering Level 3 autonomous driving capability.

The exterior of the GLC with EQ Technology is completely different from its internal combustion-engined counterpart, with a sportier roofline that helps achieve a low drag co-efficient of 0.24. The interior of the top-spec versions features a screen that spans the entire dashboard. The rear passenger room has been increased thanks to a longer wheelbase.

Depending on the market, the GLC EV will be available in single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive configurations, with outputs of up to 670hp (500kW). The vehicle will be equipped with different battery options, ranging from a lithium iron phosphate unit to a 94.5kWh nickel manganese cobalt battery that offers a range of over 800km.

The driving experience of the GLC with EQ Technology is impressive, with a quiet and smooth ride. The vehicle features Mercedes-Benz’s digital brake control system, offering seamless transitions between regenerative braking and mechanical braking. The e-motors are powerful and efficient, providing excellent traction and acceleration.

Overall, the Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology promises to be a top performer in the electric vehicle market. With its cutting-edge technology, spacious interior, and impressive driving dynamics, this electric SUV is set to make a significant impact. The production version of the GLC with EQ Technology is set to be unveiled at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich this September.
