2026 Skoda Elroq RS review: Quick drive

Skoda has a rich history of producing high-performance RS models that have delighted car enthusiasts for over 50 years. From the rear-engined 110, 130, and 200 RS models that dominated the European Touring Car Championship and the Monte Carlo rally in the 1970s to the iconic Octavia RS launched in 1998, Skoda has consistently delivered sporty and thrilling models to the market.

Today, the RS lineup is a staple in Skoda’s range, with sporty versions of popular models like the Octavia, Kodiaq, and the all-electric Enyaq. The latest addition to the RS family is the 2026 Skoda Elroq RS, a compact SUV that promises to offer a blend of performance, style, and practicality.

The Elroq RS is closely related to the Enyaq and shares the same MEB electric car underpinnings. With a dual-motor electric drivetrain producing 250kW of power and all-wheel drive capability, the Elroq RS offers impressive acceleration and handling. The addition of an extra electric motor provides the SUV with the necessary traction and power to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.4 seconds.

Inside, the Elroq RS boasts a premium interior with soft-touch materials and high-quality finishes. The cabin is spacious, with plenty of legroom for both front and rear passengers. The 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system is user-friendly, although it may be a bit distracting due to its size. The RS-specific features like the high-backed bucket seats and the sporty steering wheel add to the overall driving experience.

On the road, the Elroq RS offers a balanced driving experience, with a comfortable ride and responsive handling. The adaptive dampers allow for different driving modes, from soft to firm, to suit various road conditions. While the SUV may lack the sharpness and engagement of some of its competitors, it excels in providing a blend of performance and everyday comfort.

In terms of safety, the Elroq RS is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems like Travel Assist, Emergency Assist, and Front Assist with AEB. While official safety ratings are yet to be released, the SUV’s shared structure with the Enyaq and additional safety features should make it a safe choice for buyers.

In conclusion, the Skoda Elroq RS offers a compelling package for those looking for a sporty SUV with practicality and performance. With its blend of power, comfort, and safety features, the Elroq RS is a versatile and enjoyable vehicle that caters to a wide range of driving preferences.
