Mercedes-Benz is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle market with the introduction of the new CLA EV. This cutting-edge vehicle boasts a rapid-charging capability of up to 320kW, thanks to its innovative 800V electrical architecture. This means that drivers can top up the battery and gain an impressive 186-mile range in just 10 minutes, making it one of the fastest-charging EVs on the market.

In addition to the standard 85kWh battery, Mercedes-Benz will also be offering a 58kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) pack shortly after the launch. While this option will likely come with a lower price tag, it will also reduce the CLA EV’s range to around 300 miles. However, this still offers plenty of driving range for most daily commutes and road trips.

Exciting news for performance enthusiasts comes in the form of the upcoming hot AMG CLA 45 EV. This powerhouse will feature a pair of Yasa-developed axial flux motors delivering over 500bhp. With a focus on enhancing performance and dynamics, this model is sure to turn heads on the road.

But Mercedes-Benz isn’t stopping there. The new CLA will also be available in hybrid form, featuring a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a small 1.3kWh battery and a 27bhp electric motor. This hybrid powertrain offers either 134bhp or 161bhp to the front wheels, or a whopping 188bhp to all four wheels in the 4Matic model. Mercedes promises “diesel levels of fuel efficiency” with this engine, indicating an impressive MPG figure of over 50.

To make the hybrid CLA more accessible to consumers, Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius announced that the pricing will be on par with the EV model. This is made possible by a 30% cost saving in battery production, resulting in a 15% reduction in the overall price of the EV.

With advancements in both electric and hybrid technology, Mercedes-Benz is leading the way in sustainable and high-performance vehicles. The new CLA lineup offers something for everyone, from eco-conscious drivers to speed enthusiasts, all without compromising on style or luxury. Stay tuned for the release of these groundbreaking models from Mercedes-Benz.
