Nio, the Chinese electric vehicle maker, is gearing up to open test drives for its highly anticipated executive flagship sedan, the ET9. With deliveries expected to begin at the end of this month, Nio recently shared a video showcasing the ET9’s impressive ability to navigate a ramp at 80 km/h while keeping its wheels firmly planted on the road.

The video, recorded at an airport runway in Luogang, Hefei, Anhui province, demonstrates the ET9’s advanced SkyRide chassis system in action. The vehicle smoothly traverses a 22.5-meter-long ramp with a height of 30 centimeters, showcasing its exceptional all-around attitude control capabilities.

According to Ted Li, Nio’s vice president of product, the core feature of the SkyRide fully active suspension is its ability to maintain the vehicle’s body level at all times. Whether going uphill, over a ramp, or downhill, the active suspension ensures a stable and level ride, enhancing both comfort and safety for passengers.

The ET9 made its debut at Nio Day 2023, where pre-orders were first accepted. Priced starting at RMB 788,000 ($108,930), the ET9 is positioned to compete in the luxury executive sedan market traditionally dominated by foreign brands like Mercedes Maybach. With deliveries set to begin by the end of this month, Nio enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting their chance to experience the innovative SkyRide intelligent chassis system firsthand.

One of the standout features of the ET9 is its world-first integrated hydraulic fully active suspension, which allows for dynamic adjustment of stiffness, damping, and height, resulting in an unparalleled driving experience. Nio founder and CEO William Li previously demonstrated the vehicle’s safety and stability by driving at high speeds with a flat tire, showcasing the ET9’s impressive handling capabilities.

As Nio continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology, the ET9 stands out as a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation and excellence. With the upcoming test drives set to showcase the vehicle’s performance and capabilities, the ET9 is poised to make a significant impact in the luxury sedan market. Stay tuned for more updates on Nio’s groundbreaking ET9 as deliveries are set to commence later this month.
