Tesla Model S Plaid gets smoked in drag race by Xiaomi’s cheaper SU7 Ultra

Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra, the latest flagship electric vehicle from the Chinese tech giant, recently went head-to-head with the Tesla Model S Plaid in a drag race – and it came out on top. The SU7 Ultra boasts an impressive 1,526 horsepower powertrain, making it a force to be reckoned with on the road. What’s even more impressive is that this powerhouse vehicle comes with a price tag that is 35% cheaper than the already-affordable Tesla Model S Plaid.

Xiaomi has been making waves in the EV market in China, with its SU7 model consistently delivering over 20,000 units a month and surpassing the Tesla Model 3 in sales. The company’s success can be attributed to the SU7’s competitive pricing, impressive range, and additional features that set it apart from its competitors.

Last month, Xiaomi unveiled the top-of-the-line SU7 Ultra, priced at $72,800 (529,900 RMB). With a lightning-fast acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds, the SU7 Ultra is a direct competitor to Tesla’s flagship Model S Plaid in terms of performance. In a drag race between the two vehicles, the SU7 Ultra outperformed the Model S Plaid, showcasing its raw power and speed.

But the SU7 Ultra isn’t just about straight-line speed – it also holds the title as the fastest four-door sedan at the Nurburgring race track in Germany, proving its capabilities on the track as well. With other Chinese automakers like Nio and BYD also releasing top-of-the-line EVs, it’s clear that the Chinese market is a force to be reckoned with in the electric vehicle industry.

As American automakers continue to face stiff competition from Chinese EV manufacturers, it’s evident why they have lobbied for protectionist measures like 100% tariffs on imported vehicles. Despite the challenges, Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra and other Chinese EVs are setting a new standard for performance and affordability in the electric vehicle market.
