BYD Unveils Super e-Platform with Revolutionary Charging Capabilities

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has once again showcased its technological prowess with the unveiling of its new electric vehicle (EV) platform, the “Super e-Platform.” This platform features redesigned blade batteries that support ultra-fast charging, high-performance electric motors, and a new generation of silicon carbide power chips.

The core of BYD’s Super e-Platform is its flash-charge batteries, which boast a charging multiplier of up to 10 C, the highest of any mass-produced power battery in the world. This means that the battery can theoretically be fully charged in just six minutes, setting a new standard for fast charging in the industry.

BYD has also redesigned the blade batteries to facilitate faster ion transfer in the electrolyte and reduce resistance through the diaphragm, resulting in quicker charging times. These batteries support charging voltages of up to 1,000 V and charging currents of up to 1,000 A, enabling charging power of up to 1,000 kW (kilowatt), the highest in the world.

To complement the high-power capabilities of the batteries, BYD has developed a supercharger that supports 1,000 kW of power. This supercharger can add 2 kilometers of range to an EV in just one second, or 400 kilometers in five minutes, surpassing the performance of Tesla’s latest V4 supercharger.

In addition, BYD has introduced a new high-revving motor that spins at up to 30,511 revolutions per minute, the highest of any mass-produced motor in the world. This motor has a peak power of up to 580 kW, exceeding the performance of a V12 fuel engine, and a power density of 16.4 kW/kg, the highest in the industry.

The first models based on BYD’s Super e-Platform are the Han L EV sedan and Tang L SUV, both of which are available for pre-sales starting today. The Han L EV is priced between RMB 270,000 ($37,330) and RMB 350,000, while the Tang L EV starts at RMB 280,000 to RMB 360,000 for pre-sales.

These models offer impressive performance, with the Han L EV accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.7 seconds and the Tang L EV in 3.6 seconds. They are equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye B smart driving system, featuring hardware such as a roof-mounted LiDAR.

BYD has also started accepting reservations for the hybrid Han L DM and Tang L DM models, which will be equipped with the most powerful variant of BYD’s DM hybrid technology. These models will be officially launched at another event in early April.

With its groundbreaking Super e-Platform and cutting-edge EV models, BYD continues to lead the way in the electric vehicle industry, setting new standards for performance, charging capabilities, and technological innovation.
