Hyundai, Sendy develop AI-based logistics platform

Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea’s largest automaker, has entered into a partnership with local cargo logistics platform operator Sendy.ai to develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven logistics platform for Hyundai’s battery-powered ST1 light van. The ST1 van, which runs on SK On batteries, was introduced in South Korea last year.

The collaboration aims to integrate Sendy’s AI-based logistics optimization system into Hyundai’s ST1 van to create an efficient and environmentally friendly last-mile delivery service. The AI system will recommend optimal delivery routes and help minimize empty return trips, enhancing the overall delivery process.

Initially, the AI-equipped ST1 vans will be deployed in Seoul in the second quarter of 2025, with plans for expansion to other major cities in South Korea later in the year. Hyundai’s goal is to have 100 AI-enabled vans operational by the end of 2025.

As part of the agreement, Hyundai will provide essential vehicle data and technical support to ensure the smooth operation of the AI system within the ST1 vans. The collaboration between Hyundai and Sendy is not just about launching a logistics service but about setting a new standard for AI-powered smart transport solutions.

In a statement, a Hyundai official expressed the significance of the partnership with Sendy, highlighting the creation of a new paradigm for smart transport powered by AI technology.

The integration of AI-driven logistics platforms into Hyundai’s ST1 vans represents a step towards innovation and efficiency in the transportation industry. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and strategic partnerships, Hyundai is poised to revolutionize the delivery service sector in South Korea and potentially beyond.
