BYD Seal 05 DM-i: A New Addition to China’s MIIT Catalogue

The BYD Seal 05 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sedan from BYD Auto, has recently been featured in a catalogue released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). This inclusion highlights the technological advancements and design features of the vehicle.

Exterior Design:
The Seal 05 DM-i embodies the latest family styling of BYD’s Ocean Series, with headlights reminiscent of the Seal 06 DM-i. The front end exudes a sleek, downward-sloping stance, adding a touch of sportiness to the overall aesthetic. The side profile of the vehicle is understated and streamlined, accentuated by a continuous waistline that enhances its sleek and elongated appearance. At the rear, a full-width light strip design contributes to a robust and solid presence on the road.

Dimensions:
Measuring 4,780mm in length, 1,837mm in width, and 1,515mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,718mm, the Seal 05 DM-i offers ample space for passengers and cargo. Compared to the BYD Destroyer 05, this model stands 20mm taller, providing a unique stance on the road.

Advanced Features:
Equipped with a range of advanced features, the Seal 05 DM-i boasts a three-eye camera mounted on the front windshield, side rear-facing cameras on the front fenders, and exterior rear mirror cameras. These features enhance the vehicle’s intelligent driving capabilities, setting it apart from its predecessors like the BYD Destroyer 05.

Powertrain:
Under the hood, the Seal 05 DM-i is powered by BYD’s fifth-generation DM (Dual Mode) system, which includes a 1.5L engine capable of a maximum output of 74kW and an electric motor offering a peak power of 120kW. This powertrain combination ensures a seamless driving experience with enhanced fuel efficiency and performance.
