Aito, a premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand backed by Huawei, is gearing up for the official launch of its highly anticipated M8 SUV. The M8 has already generated significant buzz during its pre-sales phase, with over 100,000 pre-orders received since the start of pre-sales on March 6.

The M8 is scheduled to be unveiled on April 16 as part of a new product launch event for Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business. Customers who reserved the SUV by paying a RMB 5,000 deposit will enjoy a RMB 10,000 discount on their final payment.

With a starting price of RMB 368,000 ($50,070), the Aito M8 is expected to rival Li Auto’s Li L8 in the market. Li Auto’s Li L8 comes in three variants with starting prices ranging from RMB 321,800 to RMB 379,800.

The Aito M8, which recently secured regulatory approval from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, will be offered in 5-seat and 6-seat configurations. The SUV boasts a sleek design with dimensions of 5,190 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,795 mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 3,105 mm.

Customers can choose between two battery pack capacity options (51.975 kWh and 36.019 kWh) and three battery range options (235 km, 240 km, and 161 km). The Aito M8 offers a combined range of up to 1,526 km on a full tank of fuel and charge.

Aito, a joint venture between Huawei and Seres Group, aims to offer innovative and sustainable mobility solutions through its lineup of NEVs. In addition to the M8, the brand also offers the Aito M5, Aito M7, and Aito M9 models.
