BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) is set to officially launch its highly anticipated Han L sedan and Tang L SUV (sport utility vehicle) on Wednesday, following the successful pre-sales of these two ultra-fast charging models last month.

The official launch event for the Han L and Tang L is scheduled for April 9, with a kick-off at 7 pm Beijing time, as announced by BYD on Weibo. According to the company, the Han L is designed to cater to the aspirations of young consumers, promising to exceed all expectations.

These flagship products have garnered significant attention for being the first models built on BYD’s Super e-Platform, incorporating a flash-charging battery that supports a groundbreaking 10C charging multiplier. This technology allows for charging speeds comparable to refueling a gasoline vehicle, revolutionizing the EV charging experience.

During the pre-sales phase, the Han L EV was priced between RMB 270,000 ($37,080) and RMB 350,000, while the Tang L EV ranged from RMB 280,000 to RMB 360,000. These competitive prices reflect BYD’s commitment to making cutting-edge electric vehicles accessible to a wider audience.

One of the key highlights of these models is the Super e-Platform’s advanced battery system, capable of supporting charging voltages up to 1,000 V and charging currents up to 1,000 A. This enables charging power of up to 1,000 kW, setting a new industry standard for EV charging efficiency.

BYD’s innovative approach extends to the motor technology used in the Han L and Tang L, with a high-revving motor capable of spinning at an impressive 30,511 revolutions per minute. This motor delivers a peak power of up to 580 kW, surpassing the performance of traditional fuel engines.

In terms of performance, both models excel, with the Han L EV achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 2.7 seconds, while the Tang L EV achieves the same feat in 3.6 seconds. These impressive acceleration figures are a testament to the advanced engineering and design of these vehicles.

Furthermore, the Han L EV and Tang L EV come equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye B smart driving system, featuring cutting-edge hardware such as a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. This technology enhances safety and driving assistance, reinforcing BYD’s commitment to innovation in the automotive sector.

In addition to the electric variants, BYD also introduced hybrid versions of the Han L and Tang L, known as the Han L DM and Tang L DM. These models are powered by BYD’s most powerful DM hybrid technology, offering a unique blend of performance and efficiency.

With strong sales figures in March and a promising outlook for the future, BYD continues to solidify its position as a key player in the NEV market. The Han and Tang families have showcased consistent growth and popularity, contributing significantly to BYD’s overall sales performance.

As the automotive industry continues to evolve towards electrification, BYD’s commitment to innovation and sustainability positions it as a leading force in shaping the future of transportation. The launch of the Han L and Tang L represents a significant milestone in BYD’s journey towards creating cutting-edge electric vehicles that redefine the driving experience.
