Chery steps up hybrid model launches

Chery Automobile Company Ltd has recently announced its ambitious plans to launch 39 new hybrid models globally in 2025, in response to the increasing demand for environmentally-friendly vehicles. The Chinese automaker revealed this exciting news at its “Hybrid Night and Open-Source Initiative” event, where it showcased its latest hybrid technologies and introduced an open-source initiative.

One of the standout technologies unveiled at the event was the next-generation Kunpeng Tianqing engine, boasting an impressive thermal efficiency of over 48%, which is considered to be one of the highest in the industry. Chairman Yin Tongyue emphasized Chery’s hybrid strategy, which focuses on sustainable development, affordability, safety, and reliable range. He highlighted the industry-leading thermal efficiency standards achieved by the newly-developed hybrid engine technology, as well as the fifth-generation hybrid system’s “Clear Drive Management” that ensures seamless coordination between the electric motor and the engine.

In the first quarter of 2025, Chery reported a 17% increase in global vehicle sales, reaching 620,025 units, including 163,458 new energy vehicles (NEVs). Additionally, the company exported 255,465 units from China during the same period, showcasing its strong presence in the international market.

As Chery continues to innovate and expand its hybrid vehicle lineup, it is evident that the company is committed to driving sustainable mobility and meeting the evolving needs of consumers worldwide. With a focus on cutting-edge technology and industry-leading efficiency standards, Chery is well-positioned to make a significant impact in the global automotive market.
