Ineos Grenadier Production Resumes After Seat Supplier Troubles

After facing a four-month suspension in production last year due to seat supplier Recaro Automotive going into liquidation, Ineos Grenadier is back on track. The German firm has been rescued by Italian supplier Proma Group, allowing full production speed to be achieved again in May.

Despite the temporary setback, Ineos managed to grow Grenadier sales by 40% in the past year, expanding its presence to 50 worldwide markets. One notable addition is China, the largest automotive market globally.

While Ineos has the capacity to produce up to 50,000 cars per year at its Hambach facility with all-shift working, the company is currently classified as a small-volume manufacturer. This designation exempts them from certain emissions mandates, but Ineos is determined to exceed the sales limit and expand its lineup of vehicles to cater to different markets.

According to Calder, Ineos is focused on growth and innovation, stating, “We will bust the limit of sales the very first second we can. And then we will have to have a different line-up of vehicles – or, frankly, focus on different markets.”
