Terawatt Infrastructure has recently launched their first medium- and heavy-duty electric charging truck stop in California, specifically in Rancho Dominguez. This private site, located just 12 miles north of the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, is shared among multiple fleets and will cater to electric trucking fleet operations in and out of the largest container ports in the US.
Among the first customers utilizing this innovative charging truck stop are Dreaded Trucking, Hight Logistics, PepsiCo, Quick Container Drayage, Southern Counties Express, Tradelink Transport, and WestCoast Trucking & Warehousing.
The charging truck stop features 20 pull-through and bobtail DC fast charging stalls with a remarkable capacity of 7 megawatts (MW), enabling up to 125 trucks to be charged per day through a simple reservations system. Additionally, Terawatt’s site boasts a proprietary charge management system, in-house technicians, 24/7 customer service, and onsite parts management.
Neha Palmer, CEO and cofounder of Terawatt, highlighted the importance of this launch as it signifies the growing collaboration between enterprises, shippers, carriers, and charging infrastructure providers to advance sustainable technologies in logistics and transportation operations, particularly in the medium and heavy-duty sectors. Palmer also mentioned that another charging site in Rialto, California, is set to go online in June.
Terawatt’s involvement in the I-10 Consortium heavy-duty EV operations pilot, launched in September 2024, further solidifies their commitment to sustainable transportation. The company is providing charging infrastructure, including software, operations, and maintenance support at six of its owned charging hubs along the I-10 corridor.
