AM Rina revealed as 5.0-litre V8, manual ‘box tribute to the 1960s

Italian car manufacturer Automobili Mignatta (AM) has recently introduced the Rina, a stunning V8-powered speedster paying homage to Italy’s iconic sports cars of the 1960s. The Rina is built on a lightweight carbonfibre monocoque chassis, featuring sleek curves and a lengthy bonnet reminiscent of classic race cars from prestigious brands like Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, and Maserati.

The interior of the Rina is designed to prioritize the driving experience, with a minimalist approach that eliminates digital displays in favor of analogue gauges. The central placement of the rev counter, oil, and temperature dials ensures that the driver remains focused on the road, while the speedometer is uniquely positioned on a carbonfibre spine that divides the cabin into two distinct sections.

To underscore its racing heritage, each doorcard of the Rina includes a dedicated slot for stowing a helmet, drawing inspiration from the iconic Lancia Stratos. Powering this exquisite speedster is a naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine, boasting high-performance specifications such as four valves per cylinder, four camshafts, and a 92.7mm stroke. While the exact power and torque figures are yet to be revealed, AM hints at a power-to-weight ratio approaching 2 kg per bhp, indicating an output close to 500bhp.

The engine has been fine-tuned by engineering firm Italtechnica, renowned for their work on the Kimera Evo37’s engine. The modifications focus on enhancing air intake efficiency and reducing overall weight, promising an exhilarating driving experience. The power from the V8 engine is transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential, ensuring precise control and dynamic handling.

AM plans to manufacture approximately 30 units of the Rina each year at their headquarters in Piedmont, Italy. Each vehicle will be highly customizable, catering to individual preferences and offering a bespoke driving experience. While the pricing details have not been disclosed yet, it is expected that the Rina will come with a premium price tag befitting its exclusivity and exceptional craftsmanship.

Overall, the Rina represents a blend of classic Italian design and modern engineering, embodying the spirit of iconic sports cars from the past while delivering a thrilling and unique driving experience.
