Changan Automobile Expands Presence in Middle East and Africa
Changan Automobile recently hosted its 2024 Middle East and Africa Brand Event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where it unveiled its plans for the region. With a focus on enhancing localized operations and services, the Chinese automaker introduced three major brands and outlined its future product lineup.
Since its entry into the Middle East and African markets in 1994, Changan has been known for providing high-quality vehicles such as the Yuexiang series, CS series, and UNI series. The company currently operates over 100 service touchpoints in the region and boasts the world’s largest Changan flagship store in Riyadh. With cumulative sales exceeding 400,000 units in Saudi Arabia, Changan has established itself as the top-selling Chinese auto brand in the country.
Looking ahead, Changan plans to introduce 10 new models in the Middle East and Africa, including the UNI-S and the new UNI-V 2.0T. The company also aims to expand its lineup with new energy vehicles from DEEPAL and AVATR brands, along with advanced smart cloud services. To enhance customer service, Changan is setting up a local subsidiary, spare parts centers, and a technical support hub to improve response times by 50%. Additionally, the company will establish a professional maintenance team to offer comprehensive service experiences and explore collaborations in joint ventures, financial services, and logistics.
As the Middle East and Africa focus on economic and energy transformation through initiatives like Saudi Vision 2030, Changan is gearing up to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles in the region. The company plans to offer both petrol and new energy vehicles to cater to this emerging market and aims to achieve overseas sales of 1.2 million units annually by 2030.
In addition to its efforts in the Middle East and Africa, Changan is expanding its global footprint with local production set to begin at its Thailand factory in Southeast Asia. DEEPAL has also started presales in Latin America and has plans to enter Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. In the first seven months of 2024, Changan’s overseas sales reached 228,000 units, marking a 67.6% year-over-year increase.
With a renewed focus on the Middle East and Africa markets and ambitious global expansion plans, Changan Automobile is poised for growth and success in the coming years.
