Dongfeng Motor Launches New All-Electric Vehicle Models in Costa Rica

Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor has recently unveiled two new all-electric vehicle models, the DONGFENG MAGE EV and the DONGFENG BOX, in the bustling capital of Costa Rica, San José. This exciting announcement marks a significant milestone in Dongfeng’s expansion into the Latin American market.

In a statement released via WeChat on August 22, Dongfeng Motor showcased its commitment to providing eco-friendly mobility solutions to consumers in Costa Rica and beyond. The company’s strategic move to introduce these new electric models demonstrates its dedication to meeting the evolving demands of the global automotive market.

The DONGFENG MAGE EV, Dongfeng Motor’s first globally-oriented model, offers an all-electric powertrain version, with plans to introduce additional powertrain options in the future. Meanwhile, the DONGFENG BOX, a battery-electric compact car, stands out for its impressive range, spacious interior, and modern design. Both models have already garnered significant interest, with numerous orders placed at the launch event.

Costa Rica has proven to be a lucrative market for Dongfeng Motor, with local sales skyrocketing by an impressive 197% year over year in July 2024. The company’s distribution network now covers six key regions in the country, solidifying its market presence and expanding its reach to a wider audience.

The successful introduction of these all-electric models in Costa Rica underscores Dongfeng Motor’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. By offering efficient, eco-friendly, and intelligent mobility solutions, the company aims to cater to the diverse needs of consumers in the region and enhance its brand reputation in the Latin American market.
