Xpeng Aeroht, a subsidiary of Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) specializing in flying car technology, has recently established a strategic partnership with Harbin Dongan Auto Engine, a local automotive engine manufacturer. The collaboration aims to enhance the development of next-generation aerospace hybrid systems for Xpeng Aeroht’s modular flying cars, with a focus on creating energy-efficient, lightweight, and cost-effective solutions.

The partnership between Xpeng Aeroht and Dongan signifies a significant step towards preparing the modular flying car for mass production. By leveraging Dongan’s expertise in engine technology and Xpeng Aeroht’s innovative flying car designs, the two companies are set to revolutionize the aviation industry with cutting-edge hybrid systems.

Founded in 2013, Xpeng Aeroht is a technology unit majority-owned by Xpeng and its chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng. The company’s vision for the future of transportation includes the development of eVTOL (Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) flying cars and modular flying cars. The modular flying car concept comprises a flying car and a parent vehicle that can recharge the flying body, offering a seamless and efficient flying experience.

Dongan’s involvement as a range-extender supplier for Xpeng Aeroht’s “Land Aircraft Carrier” modular flying car underscores the company’s commitment to delivering high-performance and reliable solutions. The mother vehicle of the modular flying car boasts a CLTC range of over 1,000 kilometers, showcasing the capabilities of Xpeng Aeroht’s advanced aviation technology.

With plans to commence mass production and delivery of the modular flying car in 2026, Xpeng Aeroht aims to make this innovative technology accessible to a wider audience. Priced at no more than RMB 2 million ($276,800), the modular flying car represents a significant milestone in the evolution of personal air transportation.

In addition to its manufacturing plans, Xpeng Aeroht has also made progress in obtaining regulatory approval for its flying car products. The recent acceptance of its Production Certificate application by the Civil Aviation Administration of China signifies a crucial step towards achieving mass production and compliance with aviation authorities’ standards.

As Xpeng Aeroht continues to push the boundaries of aviation technology, the partnership with Dongan highlights the company’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the field of flying cars. With a strong focus on sustainability, efficiency, and performance, Xpeng Aeroht is poised to revolutionize the future of personal air transportation.
