BYD’s premium brand, Denza, is set to launch a new hybrid SUV called the N8L, as announced in a recent regulatory filing. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released a new regulatory catalog for public feedback, which includes the Denza N8L. This step marks the final regulatory process before the model can be sold in China.
The Denza N8L is a six-seat hybrid SUV that resembles a slightly scaled-down version of the N9 flagship SUV launched by Denza in March. The N8L measures 5,200 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,820/1,990 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm. It is available in two variants with different curb weights and supports a top speed of 220 km/h.
Powered by BYD’s e3 technology, the Denza N8L features a front motor with a peak power of 200 kW and two rear motors with a peak power of 180 kW each. It also has an engine displacement of 1,995 ml and 152 kW. The e3 technology is a scaled-down version of BYD’s e4 technology found in ultra-luxury cars, offering tri-motor independent drive with rear-wheel steering.
In comparison, the Denza N9 flagship SUV, launched earlier this year, boasts impressive specifications such as a length of 5,258 mm, width of 2,030 mm, and height of 1,830 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. The N9 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and is priced starting at RMB 389,800 ($54,260).
Denza also recently celebrated the production milestone of the 10,000th vehicle of the N9 model, showcasing the popularity and success of the luxury SUV in the market. Additionally, Denza had previously launched the N8 SUV in August 2023, but it has since been discontinued. The exterior design of the N8L differs significantly from its predecessor, the N8.
With the upcoming launch of the Denza N8L, BYD continues to strengthen its presence in the premium SUV market, offering customers a blend of luxury, performance, and advanced technology. Stay tuned for more updates on the official launch and availability of the Denza N8L in the Chinese market.
