Lidl Italia has taken a significant step towards sustainable logistics by introducing the eActros 600, the first fully electric semitrailer tractor in Italy designed for COâ‚‚ free long-distance transport. This initiative is a partnership between Daimler Truck Italia and LC3 Trasporti, aiming to promote eco-friendly transport in Italy.

The eActros 600 is currently being used to deliver goods to Lidl branches in Trentino-South Tyrol and the Lake Garda region during the summer season. Equipped with a nitrogen-cooled semitrailer, the vehicle is capable of transporting temperature-sensitive goods without causing harm to the environment.

LC3 Trasporti has placed an order for a total of 30 eActros 600 trucks for Lidl Italia, highlighting the commitment towards sustainable transportation practices. Luca Ros, the logistics director at Lidl Italia, emphasized the importance of making logistics more sustainable and stated that the company has been focusing on decarbonizing transport through the adoption of greener transportation methods.

The deployment of a fully electric long-haul fleet is expected to play a significant role in decarbonizing the transport sector in Europe. Michele Ambrogi, the operations director at LC3 Trasporti, expressed pride in achieving this milestone with partners like LIDL and Daimler Truck Italia. He highlighted the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainable transport and the continuous efforts to reduce environmental impact and harmful emissions.

The collaboration between Lidl Italia, Daimler Truck Italia, and LC3 Trasporti signifies a collective effort towards promoting sustainable mobility and addressing the environmental challenges associated with transportation. The introduction of the eActros 600 as Italy’s first fully electric semitrailer tractor marks a significant advancement in the shift towards climate-friendly transport solutions.
