BYD Expands Presence in Cyprus with Launch of New NEV Models

BYD, a leading Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, recently made its debut in the Cyprus passenger vehicle market by introducing four new NEV models. The company’s expansion into Cyprus signifies its continued growth in Europe.

The official entry into Cyprus took place on May 28, with the launch of the Atto 3, Seal, Sealion 7, and Seal U DM-i models. These models include the electric SUV Yuan Plus, Sealion 07 EV, electric sedan Seal, and hybrid SUV Song Plus DM-i.

In Cyprus, the Yuan Plus has been rebranded as Atto 3, Sealion 07 as Sealion 7, and Song Plus DM-i as Seal U DM-i. The Atto 3 is available in two variants with prices starting at 33,990 euros and 35,990 euros, while the Seal comes in two variants starting at 45,990 euros and 48,990 euros. The Sealion 7 is available in three variants with prices starting at 49,990 euros, 52,990 euros, and 56,490 euros, and the Seal U DM-i comes in three variants with prices starting at 35,990 euros, 37,990 euros, and 42,990 euros.

BYD made its entry into the European passenger vehicle market in September 2022 and has since established itself as a key player in the NEV sector. In April, BYD registered 7,231 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in Europe, surpassing Tesla for the first time. This milestone was reported by market research firm Jato Dynamics at the end of last month.

Moreover, in May, BYD achieved impressive sales figures, with a total of 382,476 vehicles sold, marking a 15.27 percent year-on-year increase and a 0.63 percent month-on-month increase. Of these sales, 89,047 were NEVs sold overseas, representing a remarkable year-on-year increase of 137.46 percent and a month-on-month increase of 12.60 percent.

With its continued success in the European market, BYD is set to further solidify its presence in the region. The company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability is evident through its expansion efforts, including the establishment of a new European headquarters and R&D center in Budapest, Hungary.

BYD’s strategic initiatives and product offerings in Cyprus and across Europe demonstrate its dedication to driving the adoption of NEVs and contributing to a greener future for transportation. As the company continues to push boundaries and expand its reach, it is poised to make a lasting impact on the global automotive industry.
