BYD sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao has officially announced the name of its upcoming new SUV – Tai 7. The reveal comes after the brand hinted at the model earlier this month. Fang Cheng Bao shared an image of the Tai 7 model wrapped in camouflage on Weibo, sparking excitement among fans and followers.

Tai 7 is expected to cater to a broader family user base, offering a larger size compared to its predecessor, Tai 3. This move aligns with the current trend in the Chinese automotive market, where major automakers are focusing on capturing the family SUV segment.

The Fang Cheng Bao brand, launched by BYD on August 16, 2023, already offers the Bao series models – Bao 5 and Bao 8 off-road SUVs, along with the Tai series model Tai 3 compact family SUV. Tai 3, the brand’s third model, was well-received after its launch, becoming the most affordable model in Fang Cheng Bao’s lineup.

The production version of Tai 3, previously known as Bao 3, entered China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) regulatory filing directory in June 2024. In December 2024, Fang Cheng Bao rebranded the model as Tai 3, marking the launch of its Tai series product line.

Tai 3 has been a success story for Fang Cheng Bao, with impressive sales figures and positive market reception. It became the weekly sales champion among China’s A-segment pure electric SUVs from June 2 to 8. As of June 4, cumulative deliveries of Tai 3 surpassed 10,000 units, showcasing the brand’s growing presence in the competitive Chinese electric vehicle market.

Looking ahead, Fang Cheng Bao is set to expand its offerings further, with plans to debut a sedan lineup by the end of 2025. More models in the Tai lineup are also expected to be introduced later this year, indicating the brand’s commitment to innovation and customer-centric approach.

With the official announcement of Tai 7 and the brand’s upcoming plans for expansion, Fang Cheng Bao is poised to make a significant impact in the Chinese automotive industry. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development from BYD’s sub-brand.
