Republic Airways Partners with BETA Technologies to Explore Electric Aircraft for Regional Flights

Republic Airways, a regional airline based in Indianapolis, has teamed up with aerospace manufacturer BETA Technologies to evaluate the potential of BETA’s all-electric ALIA CTOL aircraft for regional passenger and cargo flights. This partnership was announced at the Paris Auto Show, marking a significant step towards sustainable and efficient air travel.

BETA Technologies recently made headlines by successfully completing a flight into New York City with passengers aboard its ALIA CTOL aircraft. Republic Airways President and Chief Commercial Officer, Matt Koscal, was one of the passengers on this groundbreaking flight. Impressed by the performance of the electric aircraft, Koscal and Republic Airways have now entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with BETA Technologies to further explore the use of the ALIA CTOL for future service.

Through this agreement, Republic Airways will have access to a pre-certified ALIA CTOL aircraft, allowing them to assess its performance, operational economics, infrastructure requirements, and overall viability for regional travel. This partnership builds upon the existing relationship between BETA and Republic Airways, paving the way for potential regional eVTOL and eCTOL travel options in the near future.

In a statement, Matt Koscal expressed his excitement about the partnership, highlighting the opportunities that Advanced Air Mobility technologies present for regional connectivity. He praised BETA’s innovative approach to electric flight and emphasized the company’s leadership, culture, and values. Both BETA and Republic Airways will also explore the deployment of BETA’s aircraft charging technology to support future operations, further enhancing the sustainability of their collaboration.

The ALIA CTOL aircraft is expected to be available to Republic Airways and its subsidiary, Brickyard Connection, later in 2025. This partnership signifies a significant milestone in the advancement of electric aviation and the transition towards cleaner, quieter, and more efficient air travel. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting collaboration between Republic Airways and BETA Technologies.
