Volvo has been at the forefront of developing ‘software-defined vehicles’ in recent years, with a focus on the growing importance of technology in the automotive industry. The firm’s software engineering boss is set to join an Autocar webinar to delve into the impact of software on vehicle development and functionality. You can sign up for the webinar for free here.

Software plays a crucial role in how we use our cars and what the future holds for the automotive industry. The webinar, hosted by Autocar and Siemens on 25 June, will explore key questions such as how manufacturers can upgrade cars post-purchase and unlock the untapped potential already built into vehicles.

Siemens, a technology leader with a significant influence in the mobility sector, will have its head of automotive, battery, and mobility, Uday Senapati, participate in the webinar alongside Volvo Cars software engineering boss Alwin Bakkenes. Autocar deputy editor Felix Page and another special industry guest will also join the discussion, offering insights into the world of automotive software.

Autocar editor Mark Tisshaw expressed excitement about the partnership with Siemens and highlighted the company’s deep connection to the automotive industry. The webinar, scheduled for Wednesday 25 June from 14:00-15:00, will provide viewers with the opportunity to engage with the expert panelists and ask questions.

In addition to the webinar, Siemens has been announced as the sponsor of the 2025 Autocar Awards, which recognize individuals and organizations shaping the future of the automotive industry. The awards ceremony on 24 June will showcase the industry’s most innovative and impactful individuals, with Autocar and Siemens providing a platform for them to share their stories.
