Maextro, the luxury brand jointly developed by Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), is making significant strides with the development of its second and third products. JAC recently announced that these new models are progressing at an accelerated pace, indicating a promising future for the brand.
One of the upcoming models is the Maextro S600, which is reported to be smaller in size compared to the previously launched Maextro S800. This development hints at a diversified product lineup that caters to different consumer preferences within the luxury automobile market.
The Maextro S800, which entered mass production on June 18, has already garnered substantial interest with over 5,000 firm orders received within a short span of 19 days. This overwhelming response underscores the strong demand for high-quality luxury vehicles in the market.
Although specific details about the new Maextro models are currently scarce, the local media outlet National Business Daily has shed light on the smaller Maextro S600. This model is expected to offer a unique proposition within the luxury sedan segment, expanding Maextro’s reach to a broader audience.
The Maextro S800, which was officially launched on May 30, targets the luxury sedan market dominated by renowned German brands like Mercedes-Maybach. With a starting price of RMB 708,000 ($98,500), the S800 boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,536 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,370 mm.
Offered in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, the Maextro S800 is available in four-seat and five-seat configurations, catering to diverse consumer preferences. The brand also introduced a limited-edition pioneer version of the model, with deliveries scheduled to commence on June 26, followed by volume deliveries in mid-August.
Looking ahead, Maextro aims to ramp up production capacity for the S800, targeting a monthly output of 3,000 units by September and further scaling to 4,000 units per month by the year-end. This ambitious production plan underscores Maextro’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for luxury electric vehicles in the market.
As part of Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), Maextro stands out as a premium brand in collaboration with domestic automaker JAC. Alongside other HIMA brands like Stelato, Aito, Luxeed, and Shangjie, Maextro represents a new wave of innovation in the automotive industry.
In a market where luxury sedans from Chinese domestic brands are gaining traction, Maextro positions itself as a formidable contender alongside models like Nio’s ET9 and BYD’s Yangwang U7. With a projected market size of 410,000 to 480,000 units annually for passenger vehicles priced above RMB 600,000, Maextro aims to capture a significant market share, translating to annual sales of 80,000 to 100,000 units.
The future looks promising for Maextro as it continues to expand its product portfolio and establish a strong presence in the competitive luxury automobile market. With a focus on innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction, Maextro is poised to redefine the standards of luxury electric vehicles in China and beyond.
