Tesla hacker reveals a new Model Y with 6 seats is in the works

New Tesla Model Y 6-Seater Configuration Revealed

A recent software update from Tesla has unveiled plans for a new Model Y with a 6-seat configuration, according to a well-known Tesla hacker.

Last week, it was reported that Tesla hinted at a 7-seat option for the Model Y, but now it seems that the automaker is also considering a 6-seat layout. The previous 7-seat option for the Model Y was not very popular among customers.

Unlike the Model X, which already offers a 6-seater configuration, this would be a new addition for the Model Y lineup. The hacker, known as Green, discovered references to the 6-seater Model Y in the firmware of Tesla’s latest software update.

Previous rumors about a 6-seater Model Y were mainly focused on the Chinese market and a potential longer wheelbase variant that never materialized. However, Green’s findings suggest that this new configuration may not be exclusive to China.

While the exact details of the 6-seater Model Y are still unknown, it is speculated that the layout could feature a 2+2+2 seating arrangement with captain seats in the middle row, similar to the Model X.

Implications and Speculations

It remains to be seen how Tesla will execute the 6-seater configuration in the Model Y. Given the Model Y’s compact size, a 2+2+2 layout could potentially offer more legroom in the third row compared to the previous 7-seat option.

However, concerns arise regarding the space constraints in the second row and whether a longer wheelbase would be necessary to accommodate the new seating arrangement without compromising comfort.

Final Thoughts

While the discovery of a potential 6-seater Model Y is intriguing, it is essential to wait for official confirmation from Tesla before drawing any conclusions. The implementation of this new configuration could offer customers more versatility and comfort, especially for larger families or those in need of additional seating options.
