Nio Onvo L90’s single-motor model has up to 605 km range, filing shows

The latest filing from Nio’s sub-brand Onvo has revealed the battery and range specifications for the single-motor version of the L90, their flagship SUV. The L90 with model number NAL6513BSEVZ1 qualifies for China’s new energy vehicle tax exemption and reduction on vehicle purchases, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) catalog.

The single-motor version of the L90 is a battery-swappable vehicle with two battery pack options: 60.6 kWh and 85.1 kWh. These battery packs offer CLTC range values ranging from 425 to 605 kilometers. It is important to note that the actual range of an electric vehicle is typically around 80 percent of the declared CLTC range.

Onvo’s president, Shen Fei, had previously mentioned that the L90 would come standard with the larger 85-kWh battery pack. This model shares battery packs with the L60 midsize SUV, where the 85-kWh pack is an optional long-range pack. Owners of the L90 can also freely upgrade or downgrade battery packs using Nio’s battery swap system.

The two battery packs for the L90 have different weights and pack energy densities, with one based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry and the other on nickel-cobalt-manganese chemistry. Suppliers for these battery options include BYD, CATL, and CALB.

The dual-motor version of the L90 was also included in a previous MIIT catalog, showing its own range values. The L90 will be Onvo’s second model following the L60 and is set to launch in the third quarter. Another large five-seat SUV, the L80, will be launched in the fourth quarter.

In May, Onvo saw an increase in deliveries despite a reduction in sales staff. The company delivered at least 6,160 vehicles during that month, according to remarks made by William Li.

Overall, the L90 is set to offer impressive battery options and range values, positioning it as a competitive option in the electric SUV market. With the launch of the L90 and upcoming L80, Onvo is making significant strides in the EV industry.
